John.7:22 22διὰ τοῦτο Μωυσῆς δέδωκεν ὑμῖν τὴν περιτομήν, (οὐχ ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ Μωυσέως ἐστίν, ἀλλ᾽ ἐκ τῶν πατέρων,) καὶ ἐν σαββάτῳ περιτέμνετε ἄνθρωπον. 22 But you work on the Sabbath , too , {NEQ} {NEQ} when you obey Moses' {NEQ} law of circumcision . ( Actually , this tradition of circumcision began with the patriarchs , long before {NEQ} {RPT} {NEQ} the law of Moses . )
John.7:23 23εἰ περιτομὴν λαμβάνει ἄνθρωπος ἐν σαββάτῳ ἵνα μὴ λυθῇ ὁ νόμος Μωυσέως. ἐμοὶ χολᾶτε ὅτι ὅλον ἄνθρωπον ὑγιῆ ἐποίησα ἐν σαββάτῳ; 23 For if the correct time for circumcising your son falls on the Sabbath , you go ahead and do it so as not to break the law of Moses . So why should you be angry with me for healing a man on the Sabbath ?

And the practice was continued when Isaac became the father of {NEQ} Jacob , and when Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs of the Israelite nation .
Acts.10:45 45καὶ ἐξέστησαν οἱ ἐκ περιτομῆς πιστοὶ οἳ συνῆλθαν τῷ Πέτρῳ ὅτι καί, ἐπὶ τὰ ἔθνη ἡ δωρεὰ τοῦ πνεύματος τοῦ ἁγίου ἐκκέχυται· 45 {NEQ} The Jewish believers  *  who came with {NEQ} Peter were amazed that the gift of the {RPT} Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles , too .
Acts.11:2 2ὅτε δὲ ἀνέβη Πέτρος εἰς Ἰερουσαλήμ, διεκρίνοντο πρὸς αὐτὸν οἱ ἐκ περιτομῆς. 2 But when Peter arrived back in Jerusalem , the Jewish believers  *  criticized him .
Rom.2:25 25περιτομὴ μὲν γὰρ ὠφελεῖ ἐὰν νόμον πράσσῃς· ἐὰν δὲ παραβάτης νόμου ᾖς, ἡ περιτομή σου ἀκροβυστία γέγονεν. 25 {NEQ} {NEQ} The Jewish ceremony of circumcision has value only if you obey God’s law . But if you don’t obey God’s law , you are no better off than an uncircumcised Gentile .
Rom.2:26 26ἐὰν οὖν ἡ ἀκροβυστία τὰ δικαιώματα τοῦ νόμου φυλάσσῃ, οὐχ ἡ ἀκροβυστία αὐτοῦ εἰς περιτομὴν λογισθήσεται; 26 And if the Gentiles obey God’s law , won’t God declare them to be his own people ?
Rom.2:27 27καί, κρινεῖ ἡ ἐκ φύσεως ἀκροβυστία τὸν νόμον τελοῦσα σὲ τὸν διὰ γράμματος καὶ περιτομῆς παραβάτην νόμου. 27 In fact , {NEQ} uncircumcised Gentiles who keep God’s law will condemn you Jews who are circumcised and possess God’s law but don’t obey it .
Rom.2:28 28οὐ γὰρ ὁ ἐν τῷ φανερῷ Ἰουδαῖός ἐστιν οὐδὲ ἡ ἐν τῷ φανερῷ ἐν σαρκὶ περιτομή· 28 For you are not a true Jew just because you were born of Jewish parents or because you have gone through the ceremony of circumcision .
Rom.2:29 29ἀλλ᾽ ὁ ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ Ἰουδαῖος, καὶ περιτομὴ καρδίας ἐν πνεύματι, οὐ γράμματι· οὗ ὁ ἔπαινος οὐκ ἐξ ἀνθρώπων, ἀλλ᾽ ἐκ τοῦ θεοῦ. 29 No , a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God . And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law ; rather , it is a change of heart produced by God’s Spirit . And a person with a changed heart seeks {NEQ} praise  *  from {NEQ} God , not from people .
Rom.3:1 1τί οὖν τὸ περισσὸν τοῦ Ἰουδαίου; ἢ τίς ἡ ὠφέλεια τῆς περιτομῆς; 3:1 Then what’s the advantage of being a Jew ? {NEQ} Is there any value in the ceremony of {NEQ} circumcision ?
Rom.3:30 30εἴπερ εἷς ὁ θεός, ὃς δικαιώσει, περιτομὴν ἐκ πίστεως καὶ ἀκροβυστίαν διὰ τῆς πίστεως. 30 There is only one {NEQ} God , and he makes people right with himself only by faith , {RPT} {RPT} {RPT} whether they are Jews or Gentiles .  * 
Rom.4:9 9ὁ μακαρισμὸς οὖν οὗτος ἐπὶ τὴν περιτομήν, ἢ καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν ἀκροβυστίαν; λέγομεν γάρ, ἐλογίσθη τῷ Ἀβραὰμ ἡ πίστις εἰς δικαιοσύνην. 9 Now , is this {NEQ} blessing only for the Jews , or is it also for {NEQ} uncircumcised Gentiles ?  *  Well , we have been saying that {NEQ} Abraham was counted as righteous by God because of his faith .
Rom.4:10 10πῶς οὖν ἐλογίσθη; ἐν περιτομῇ ὄντι, ἢ ἐν ἀκροβυστίᾳ; οὐκ ἐν περιτομῇ ἀλλ᾽ ἐν ἀκροβυστίᾳ· 10 But how did this happen ? Was he counted as righteous only after he was circumcised , or was it before he was circumcised ? Clearly , God accepted Abraham {NEQ} {RPT} {RPT} before he was circumcised !
Rom.4:11 11καὶ σημεῖον ἔλαβεν περιτομῆς, σφραγῖδα τῆς δικαιοσύνης τῆς πίστεως— τῆς ἐν τῇ ἀκροβυστίᾳ· εἰς τὸ εἶναι αὐτὸν πατέρα πάντων τῶν πιστευόντων δι᾽ ἀκροβυστίας· εἰς τὸ λογισθῆναι αὐτοῖς τὴν δικαιοσύνην· 11 Circumcision was {NEQ} a sign that Abraham already had {RPT} faith and that God had already accepted him and declared him to be {RPT} righteous — {RPT} even before {NEQ} he was circumcised . So Abraham is the spiritual father of those who have faith but have not been circumcised . They {NEQ} {NEQ} are counted as {NEQ} righteous because of their faith .
Rom.4:12 12καὶ πατέρα περιτομῆς τοῖς οὐκ ἐκ περιτομῆς μόνον, ἀλλὰ καὶ τοῖς στοιχοῦσιν τοῖς ἴχνεσιν τῆς ἐν ἀκροβυστίᾳ πίστεως τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν Ἀβραάμ. 12 And Abraham is also the spiritual father of those who have been circumcised , {RPT} {RPT} {RPT} {RPT} but only if they have the same kind of {NEQ} faith {NEQ} {RPT} {RPT} Abraham had before he was circumcised .
Rom.15:8 8λέγω γὰρ Χριστὸν διάκονον γεγενῆσθαι περιτομῆς ὑπὲρ ἀληθείας θεοῦ εἰς τὸ βεβαιῶσαι τὰς ἐπαγγελίας τῶν πατέρων. 8 Remember that {NEQ} Christ came as a servant to the Jews  *  to show that God is true to the promises he made to their ancestors .
1Cor.7:19 19ἡ περιτομὴ οὐδέν ἐστιν καὶ ἡ ἀκροβυστία οὐδέν ἐστιν· ἀλλὰ τήρησις ἐντολῶν θεοῦ. 19 For it makes no difference whether or {NEQ} not a man has been {NEQ} circumcised . The important thing is to keep God’s commandments .
Gal.2:7 7ἀλλὰ τοὐναντίον, ἰδόντες ὅτι πεπίστευμαι τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς ἀκροβυστίας, καθὼς Πέτρος τῆς περιτομῆς· 7 Instead , they saw that God had given me the responsibility of preaching the gospel to the Gentiles , just as he had given Peter the responsibility of preaching to the Jews .
Gal.2:8 8ὁ γὰρ ἐνεργήσας Πέτρῳ εἰς ἀποστολὴν τῆς περιτομῆς ἐνήργησεν καὶ ἐμοὶ εἰς τὰ ἔθνη· 8 For the same God who worked through Peter as the apostle to the Jews also worked through me as the apostle to the Gentiles .
Gal.2:9 9καί, γνόντες τὴν χάριν τὴν δοθεῖσάν μοι, Ἰάκωβος, καὶ Κηφᾶς, καὶ Ἰωάνης, οἱ δοκοῦντες στῦλοι εἶναι, δεξιὰς ἔδωκαν ἐμοὶ καὶ Βαρνάβᾳ κοινωνίας· ἵνα ἡμεῖς εἰς τὰ ἔθνη, αὐτοὶ δὲ εἰς τὴν περιτομήν· 9 In fact , James , {NEQ} Peter ,  *  and John , who were known as pillars of the church , recognized the gift {RPT} God had given me , and they accepted Barnabas and me as their co-workers . {NEQ} They encouraged us to keep preaching to the Gentiles , while they continued their work with the Jews .
Gal.2:12 12πρὸ τοῦ γὰρ ἐλθεῖν τινὰς ἀπὸ Ἰακώβου, μετὰ τῶν ἐθνῶν συνήσθιεν· ὅτε δέ, ἦλθον, ὑπέστελλεν καὶ ἀφώριζεν ἑαυτόν· φοβούμενος τοὺς ἐκ περιτομῆς. 12 When he first arrived , {NEQ} he ate with the Gentile Christians , who were not circumcised . But afterward , when some friends of James came , Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore . He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision .
Gal.5:6 6ἐν γὰρ Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ, οὔτε περιτομή τι ἰσχύει οὔτε ἀκροβυστία· ἀλλὰ πίστις δι᾽ ἀγάπης ἐνεργουμένη. 6 For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus , there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised . What is important is faith expressing itself in love .
Gal.5:11 11ἐγὼ δέ, ἀδελφοί— εἰ περιτομὴν ἔτι κηρύσσω— τί ἔτι διώκομαι; ἄρα κατήργηται τὸ σκάνδαλον τοῦ σταυροῦ. 11 Dear brothers and sisters ,  *  if I were still preaching that you must be circumcised — as some say I do — why am I still being persecuted ? If I were no longer preaching salvation through the cross of Christ , {NEQ} no one would be offended .
Gal.6:15 15οὔτε γὰρ περιτομή τι ἔστιν οὔτε ἀκροβυστία· ἀλλὰ καινὴ κτίσις. 15 {NEQ} It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not . What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation .
Eph.2:11 11διὸ μνημονεύετε ὅτι ποτὲ ὑμεῖς τὰ ἔθνη ἐν σαρκί· οἱ λεγόμενοι ἀκροβυστία ὑπὸ τῆς λεγομένης περιτομῆς, ἐν σαρκὶ χειροποιήτου· 11 {NEQ} Don’t forget that you {NEQ} Gentiles used to be outsiders . You were called “ uncircumcised heathens ” by the Jews , who were proud of their circumcision , even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts .
Phil.3:3 3ἡμεῖς γάρ ἐσμεν ἡ περιτομή· οἱ πνεύματι θεοῦ λατρεύοντες· καὶ καυχώμενοι ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ· καὶ οὐκ ἐν σαρκὶ πεποιθότες, 3 For we who worship by the Spirit of God  *  are the ones who are truly circumcised . {NEQ} We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us . {NEQ} We put no confidence in human effort ,
Phil.3:5 5περιτομῇ ὀκταήμερος· ἐκ γένους Ἰσραήλ, φυλῆς Βενιαμείν— Ἑβραῖος ἐξ Ἑβραίων· κατὰ νόμον Φαρισαῖος, 5 I was circumcised when I was eight days old . I am a pure-blooded citizen of Israel and a member of the tribe of Benjamin — a real Hebrew if there ever was one ! I was a member of the Pharisees , who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law .
Col.2:11 11ἐν ᾧ, καὶ περιετμήθητε, περιτομῇ ἀχειροποιήτῳ ἐν τῇ ἀπεκδύσει τοῦ σώματος τῆς σαρκός— ἐν τῇ περιτομῇ τοῦ Χριστοῦ· 11 When you came to Christ , you were “ circumcised , ” but not by a physical procedure . {NEQ} Christ performed a spiritual circumcision — {NEQ} the cutting away of your sinful nature .  * 
Col.3:11 11ὅπου, οὐκ ἔνι ̔Έλλην καὶ Ἰουδαῖος, περιτομὴ καὶ ἀκροβυστία, βάρβαρος, σκύθης, δοῦλος, ἐλεύθερος· ἀλλὰ τὰ πάντα, καὶ ἐν πᾶσιν Χριστός. 11 In this new life , it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile ,  *  circumcised or uncircumcised , barbaric , uncivilized ,  *  slave , or free . Christ is all that matters , and he lives in all of us .
Col.4:11 11καὶ Ἰησοῦς (ὁ λεγόμενος Ἰοῦστος). οἱ ὄντες ἐκ περιτομῆς, οὗτοι μόνοι συνεργοὶ εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ· οἵτινες ἐγενήθησάν μοι παρηγορία. 11 {NEQ} Jesus ( the one we call Justus ) also sends his greetings . These are the only Jewish believers among my co-workers ; they are working with me here for the Kingdom of {NEQ} God . And what a comfort they have been {RPT} !
Titus.1:10 10εἰσὶν γὰρ πολλοὶ ἀνυπότακτοι ματαιολόγοι καὶ φρεναπάται· μάλιστα οἱ ἐκ τῆς περιτομῆς. 10 For there are many rebellious people who engage in useless talk and deceive others . This is especially true of those who insist on {NEQ} circumcision for salvation .
