Acts.14:22 22ἐπιστηρίζοντες τὰς ψυχὰς τῶν μαθητῶν· παρακαλοῦντες ἐμμένειν τῇ πίστει, καὶ ὅτι διὰ πολλῶν θλίψεων δεῖ ἡμᾶς εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ. 22 where they strengthened the believers . They encouraged them to continue in the faith , {NEQ} reminding them that we must suffer many hardships to enter {RPT} the Kingdom of {NEQ} God .
Acts.20:23 23πλὴν ὅτι τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον κατὰ πόλιν διαμαρτύρεταί μοι λέγον ὅτι δεσμὰ καὶ θλίψεις με μένουσιν. 23 except that the {RPT} Holy Spirit tells me in city after city that jail and suffering lie ahead {RPT} .
Rom.2:9 9θλῖψις καὶ στενοχωρία ἐπὶ πᾶσαν ψυχὴν ἀνθρώπου τοῦ κατεργαζομένου τὸ κακόν— Ἰουδαίου τε πρῶτον καὶ ̔Έλληνος· 9 There will be trouble and calamity for everyone who keeps on doing what is evil — {NEQ} for the Jew first and also for the Gentile .  * 
Rom.5:3 3οὐ μόνον δέ, ἀλλὰ καὶ καυχώμεθα, ἐν ταῖς θλίψεσιν, εἰδότες ὅτι ἡ θλῖψις ὑπομονὴν κατεργάζεται· 3 We can rejoice , too , when we run into {NEQ} problems and trials , for we know that they help us develop endurance .
Rom.8:35 35τίς ἡμᾶς χωρίσει ἀπὸ τῆς ἀγάπης τοῦ Χριστοῦ; θλῖψις ἢ στενοχωρία, ἢ διωγμός, ἢ λιμός, ἢ γυμνότης, ἢ κίνδυνος, ἢ μάχαιρα; 35 Can anything ever separate us from {NEQ} Christ’s {NEQ} love ? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity , or are persecuted , or hungry , or destitute , or in danger , or threatened with death ?
Rom.12:12 12τῇ ἐλπίδι χαίροντες· τῇ θλίψει ὑπομένοντες, τῇ προσευχῇ προσκαρτεροῦντες· 12 Rejoice in our {NEQ} confident hope . Be patient in {NEQ} trouble , and keep on {NEQ} praying .
1Cor.7:28 28ἐὰν δὲ καὶ γαμήσῃς, οὐχ ἥμαρτες. καὶ ἐὰν γήμῃ ἡ παρθένος, οὐχ ἥμαρτεν. θλῖψιν, δέ, τῇ σαρκὶ ἕξουσιν οἱ τοιοῦτοι, ἐγὼ δὲ ὑμῶν φείδομαι. 28 But if you do get married , it is not a sin . And if a young woman gets married , it is not a sin . However , those who get married at this time will have troubles , and I am trying to spare you those problems .
2Cor.1:4 4ὁ παρακαλῶν ἡμᾶς ἐπὶ πάσῃ τῇ θλίψει ἡμῶν εἰς τὸ δύνασθαι ἡμᾶς παρακαλεῖν τοὺς ἐν πάσῃ θλίψει· διὰ τῆς παρακλήσεως ἧς παρακαλούμεθα αὐτοὶ ὑπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ. 4 He comforts us in all our {NEQ} troubles so that we can comfort others . When they are troubled , we will be able to give them the same comfort {RPT} {NEQ} God has given us .
2Cor.1:8 8οὐ γὰρ θέλομεν ὑμᾶς ἀγνοεῖν, ἀδελφοί, ὑπὲρ τῆς θλίψεως ἡμῶν τῆς γενομένης ἐν τῇ Ἀσίᾳ. ὅτι καθ᾽ ὑπερβολὴν ὑπὲρ δύναμιν ἐβαρήθημεν, ὥστε ἐξαπορηθῆναι ἡμᾶς καὶ τοῦ ζῆν· 8 {NEQ} We think you ought to know , dear brothers and sisters ,  *  about the trouble we {RPT} went through in the province of Asia . {NEQ} We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure , and we thought we would never live through it .
2Cor.2:4 4ἐκ γὰρ πολλῆς θλίψεως καὶ συνοχῆς καρδίας, ἔγραψα ὑμῖν, διὰ πολλῶν δακρύων· οὐχ ἵνα λυπηθῆτε, ἀλλὰ τὴν ἀγάπην ἵνα γνῶτε ἣν ἔχω περισσοτέρως εἰς ὑμᾶς. 4 {NEQ} I wrote that letter {RPT} in great anguish , with a troubled heart and many tears . I didn’t want to grieve you , but I wanted to let you know how much {NEQ} love {RPT} I have for you .
2Cor.4:17 17τὸ γὰρ παραυτίκα ἐλαφρὸν τῆς θλίψεως ἡμῶν· καθ᾽ ὑπερβολὴν εἰς ὑπερβολὴν αἰώνιον βάρος δόξης κατεργάζεται ἡμῖν· 17 For our {NEQ} present {NEQ} troubles are small and won’t last very long . Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever !
2Cor.6:4 4ἀλλ᾽ ἐν παντί, συνιστάνοντες ἑαυτοὺς ὡς θεοῦ διάκονοι· ἐν ὑπομονῇ πολλῇ ἐν θλίψεσιν ἐν ἀνάγκαις ἐν στενοχωρίαις· 4 {NEQ} In everything we do , we show that we are true ministers of God . We {RPT} patiently endure {RPT} troubles and {RPT} hardships and {RPT} calamities of every kind .
2Cor.7:4 4πολλή μοι παρρησία πρὸς ὑμᾶς, πολλή μοι καύχησις ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν. πεπλήρωμαι τῇ παρακλήσει ὑπερπερισσεύομαι τῇ χαρᾷ ἐπὶ πάσῃ τῇ θλίψει ἡμῶν. 4 I have the highest confidence in you , and I take great pride in you . You have greatly encouraged me and made me happy despite all our {NEQ} troubles .
2Cor.8:2 2ὅτι ἐν πολλῇ δοκιμῇ θλίψεως, ἡ περισσεία τῆς χαρᾶς αὐτῶν, καὶ ἡ κατὰ βάθους πτωχεία αὐτῶν, ἐπερίσσευσεν εἰς τὸ πλοῦτος τῆς ἁπλότητος αὐτῶν. 2 {NEQ} They are being tested by many troubles , and they are very poor . But they are also filled with abundant {NEQ} joy , which has overflowed in rich generosity {RPT} .
2Cor.8:13 13οὐ γάρ, ἵνα ἄλλοις ἄνεσις ὑμῖν θλῖψις· ἀλλ᾽ ἐξ ἰσότητος· 13 Of course , I don’t mean your giving should make life easy for others and hard for yourselves . I only mean that there should be some equality .
Eph.3:13 13διὸ αἰτοῦμαι μὴ ἐνκακεῖν ἐν ταῖς θλίψεσίν μου· ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν, ἥτις ἐστὶν δόξα ὑμῶν. 13 So please don’t lose heart because of my {NEQ} trials here . I am suffering for you , so you should feel honored .
Phil.1:17 17οἱ δὲ ἐξ ἐριθείας τὸν Χριστὸν καταγγέλλουσιν, οὐχ ἁγνῶς· οἰόμενοι θλῖψιν ἐγείρειν τοῖς δεσμοῖς μου. 17 {NEQ} Those others do not have pure motives as they preach about {NEQ} Christ . They preach with selfish ambition , not sincerely , intending to make my {NEQ} chains more painful to me .
Phil.4:14 14πλήν, καλῶς ἐποιήσατε συνκοινωνήσαντές μου τῇ θλίψει. 14 Even so , you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty .
Col.1:24 24νῦν χαίρω ἐν τοῖς παθήμασιν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν, καὶ ἀνταναπληρῶ τὰ ὑστερήματα τῶν θλίψεων τοῦ Χριστοῦ ἐν τῇ σαρκί μου ὑπὲρ τοῦ σώματος αὐτοῦ, ὅ ἐστιν ἡ ἐκκλησία· 24 {NEQ} I am glad when I suffer for you in my {NEQ} body , for I am participating in the sufferings of {NEQ} Christ that continue for his {NEQ} body , {RPT} {NEQ} the church .
1Thes.1:6 6καί, ὑμεῖς μιμηταὶ ἡμῶν ἐγενήθητε καὶ τοῦ κυρίου, δεξάμενοι τὸν λόγον ἐν θλίψει πολλῇ μετὰ χαρᾶς πνεύματος ἁγίου· 6 So you received the message with joy from the Holy Spirit in spite of the severe suffering it brought you . In this way , you imitated both us and the Lord .
1Thes.3:3 3τὸ μηδένα σαίνεσθαι ἐν ταῖς θλίψεσιν ταύταις. αὐτοὶ γὰρ οἴδατε ὅτι εἰς τοῦτο κείμεθα· 3 and to keep you from {NEQ} being shaken by the troubles you were going through . But you know that we are destined for such troubles .
1Thes.3:7 7διὰ τοῦτο παρεκλήθημεν, ἀδελφοί, ἐφ᾽ ὑμῖν ἐπὶ πάσῃ τῇ ἀνάγκῃ καὶ θλίψει ἡμῶν, διὰ τῆς ὑμῶν πίστεως· 7 So we have been greatly encouraged in the midst of our {NEQ} troubles and suffering , dear brothers and sisters ,  *  because you have remained strong in your {NEQ} faith .

2Thes.1:6 6εἴπερ δίκαιον παρὰ θεῷ ἀνταποδοῦναι τοῖς θλίβουσιν ὑμᾶς θλῖψιν· 6 {NEQ} In his justice he will pay back those who persecute you .
Heb.10:33 33τοῦτο μὲν ὀνειδισμοῖς τε καὶ θλίψεσιν θεατριζόμενοι, τοῦτο δὲ κοινωνοὶ τῶν οὕτως ἀναστρεφομένων γενηθέντες. 33 Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule {NEQ} and were beaten , and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things .

Rev.1:9 9ἐγώ, Ἰωάνης, ὁ ἀδελφὸς ὑμῶν καὶ συνκοινωνὸς ἐν τῇ θλίψει καὶ βασιλείᾳ καὶ ὑπομονῇ ἐν Ἰησοῦ. ἐγενόμην ἐν τῇ νήσῳ τῇ καλουμένῃ Πάτμῳ διὰ τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τὴν μαρτυρίαν Ἰησοῦ. 9 I , John , am your {NEQ} brother and your partner in {NEQ} suffering and in God’s Kingdom and in the patient endurance to which Jesus calls us . I was exiled to the island of {RPT} Patmos for preaching the word of {NEQ} God and for my testimony about Jesus .
Rev.2:9 9Οἶδά σου τὴν θλῖψιν καὶ τὴν πτωχείαν— ἀλλὰ πλούσιος εἶ· καὶ τὴν βλασφημίαν ἐκ τῶν λεγόντων Ἰουδαίους εἶναι ἑαυτούς, καὶ οὐκ εἰσίν, ἀλλὰ συναγωγὴ τοῦ Σατανᾶ. 9 “ I know about your {RPT} suffering and {RPT} your poverty — but you are rich ! {NEQ} I know the blasphemy of those opposing you . They say they are Jews , but they are not , {NEQ} because their synagogue belongs to {NEQ} Satan .
Rev.2:10 10μὴ φοβοῦ ἃ μέλλεις πάσχειν· ἰδοὺ μέλλει βάλλειν ὁ διάβολος ἐξ ὑμῶν εἰς φυλακὴν ἵνα πειρασθῆτε· καὶ ἕξετε θλῖψιν Ἡμερῶν δέκα. γίνου πιστὸς ἄχρι θανάτου, καὶ δώσω σοι τὸν στέφανον τῆς ζωῆς. 10 Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer . {NEQ} The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you . {NEQ} You will suffer for ten days . But if you remain faithful even when facing death , {NEQ} I will give you the crown of {NEQ} life .
Rev.2:22 22ἰδού, βάλλω αὐτὴν εἰς κλίνην, καὶ τοὺς μοιχεύοντας μετ᾽ αὐτῆς εἰς θλῖψιν μεγάλην, ἐὰν μὴ μετανοήσουσιν ἐκ τῶν ἔργων αὐτῆς. 22 “ Therefore , I will throw her on a bed of suffering ,  *  and those who commit adultery with her will suffer greatly unless they repent and turn away from her evil {NEQ} deeds .
Rev.7:14 14καὶ εἴρηκα αὐτῷ, Κύριέ μου, σὺ οἶδας. καὶ εἶπέν μοι, Οὗτοί εἰσιν οἱ ἐρχόμενοι ἐκ τῆς θλίψεως τῆς μεγάλης. καὶ ἔπλυναν τὰς στολὰς αὐτῶν καὶ ἐλεύκαναν αὐτὰς ἐν τῷ αἵματι τοῦ ἀρνίου. 14 And I said to him , “ Sir {RPT} , you are the one who knows . ” Then he said to me , “ These are the ones who died in the {RPT} great tribulation . {NEQ} They have washed their {NEQ} robes in the blood of the Lamb and made them white .
